Lead Magnet Headlines
Goal: Create headline variations for a lead magnet checklist.
The brief for this project was to create a lead magnet that revealed the client’s 5 step framework for building SaaS in any industry. For testing purposes, I created 2 versions of this headline: one that targeted developers and the other that targeted non-developers.
This checklist was created for developers, entrepreneurs, business owners, and investors who were new to SaaS and wanted to leverage this business model. Coding can be a deterrent for non-developers so the purpose of this checklist was to show how simple it could be to build SaaS.
I chose a checklist as a lead magnet because it was easy to download, quick to create, and provided tangible steps for building SaaS. This lead magnet was used in blogs and across the client’s social media.
When writing these headlines, I wanted to include the company name, Phase One Ventures, as well as the keywords “SaaS Platforms” and “Developers/Non-Developers” for SEO purposes.
Process: Conducted a poll on social media to determine which headline provoked the most interest.
I wrote these headlines based on AI, power words, and keyword research. After many renditions of writing, I posted a poll on the client’s social media to gauge which title was favored the most. This poll held weight in the final decision process but ultimately the client had the final word.
Results: The headline directed towards developers outperformed the headline for non-developers.
The client thought the headline variation for developers and non-developers was a clever touch. This lead magnet allowed the client to grow their email list by providing value.
